This trip, I was able to enjoy some downtime with my son and experience the benefits of being a supporter. Other than jumping in the pool with my cell phone, the trip was great. It was wonderful to attend the awards banquet and see my wife get recognized on stage several times. I would not be where I am today if it were not for her support. Direct Selling has truly changed my life. This is a great year for my wife's business, and I get to play and support as she needs. This is also a great year for my coaching. I had the honor of co-producing a CD with a few people who are great inspiration and friends of mine. It is a given that life, relationships, businesses, etc. all have their ups & downs. As long as there are more ups than downs and the destination of the journey is exciting, everybody is happy. When you share your business opportunity with a prospect, you will be their first impression. If you're not fired up and passionate or don't seem to be enjoying what you're doing, chances are your prospect is not going to be enticed to join you. What do you convey to your partner? Do they see you happy and fired up about the business? Or do they see you stressed and struggling? Guess what a man's response is to seeing a loved one unhappy? They want to fix things and help make you happy. Which, of course, can lead to more issues. Most men are keen to help out when asked to do something. Remember that enthusiasm is contagious. The more fired up you are about your business and your journey, the more engaged your partner will be. Acknowledgment and appreciation will go a long way to ensuring long-term support for your business. There may be some times when things are not quite where we want them to be. And, that's okay. As long as we keep our eye on the prize and share the vision with our partner, we can keep the energy up and the momentum going. As my friend Kristine Catalina describes in her book 'Man-Woman Relationships Made Easy', guys want to have fun. Men are willing to participate and work, there just needs to be fun in the mix. Some partners may seem like they can't be motivated to support you in your business. It is key to understand that we are not responsible for the happiness of another person. We can do things to bring them joy, but whether or not they are happy is entirely up to them. As mentioned above, it is imperative that you show enthusiasm for your business. Don't pass on any opportunity to acknowledge & appreciate them for anything that they do. It is always more empowering to focus on what is right than what is missing. Keep your focus on that which you want more of in your life and your relationship. You may have to hold the vision by yourself for a little while until your significant other wants to assume his part of it. At minimum, you are going to have fun.
