A Note From the Coach

I love being an entrepreneur. In a couple of weeks, my 16 year-old son will be here to spend his summer vacation with me. And, I get to spend as much time with him as I want to.

Last year was the first time in his life when I was able to spend more than 10 days being with my family.

This is my life. It's not about my job, business or responsibilities. It's about enjoying the journey and doing that which is fulfilling to me.

It's a great life, isn't it?

The Art of Communicating

The concept of communication is essentially transferring information from one party to one or more other parties.

There are many ways in which communication is performed. The primary mode in our relationships is the spoken word.

We all are masters of our language, yet all too often communicating can feel awkward and difficult. At times, impossible even.

In your relationship, how you are speaking is usually far more significant than what you are saying. Your expression, tone, body language, hand gestures, all speak much louder than your words.

The bottom line is that your other half will be paying more attention to – and reacting to – the way that you are speaking to them.

It is crucial to remember that you are talking to the most important person in your life. The way that you speak to them will convey how you actually feel about them.

When you have something to say, do you stop what you are doing, get their full attention and look them in the eyes when you speak?

Do you engage in conversation on sensitive subjects when you are upset, or do you find your clear space first?

I have a rule that I do not engage in deep discussions if I am not in a good space. The reason being that my emotions will be more involved in the discussion than my intellect and reason.

I prefer to respond to things and not simply react without thinking, which is typically the case when emotions are running high.

It is imperative that you both be in a centered space in order to have a meaningful connection.

And, communication is a flow back and forth. If one person does all the talking and the other all the listening, that really isn’t communicating.

It is very important to most all of us that we are understood. And, that we feel like we are understood. What happens when you are engaged in conversation and you feel like you are not being heard?

You either get annoyed or you cease talking. In either case, effective communication has ceased in that moment.

When you have a relationship where you can comfortably & safely share your deepest thoughts & feelings, you are in an amazing space.

As usual, the only aspect you have any true control over is you. The space you are in, the energy you hold and your perspective when you seek to communicate.

It does take two, and you have no control over your other half’s attitude, willingness or energy. If you’re not showing up in the best space, how can you expect them to?

It really is all about you.

Truth is Love's Doorway

Paul and Layne Cutright

You're sitting in a restaurant and you see a couple sitting
opposite each other, staring past one another into space, barely speaking, if at all, throughout their entire meal.

Their bodies are together, but even from across the room you can feel the chill of the emotional chasm between them.

It makes you wonder what could have happened in their
relationship to bring them to this depth of emptiness in which
they are so disconnected from each other.

Have you ever experienced anything like that yourself? Feeling
disconnected from someone you love and care about? If you have,
you know how painful it can be.

You want to get reconnected with them, but there seems to be
this invisible barrier that feels impossible to overcome. So,
the silence - or the politeness - or the coldness continues. And
you hope that soon everything will get back to normal - but
this is normal now, and it hurts.

So, what's this all about? It's about Truth Is Love's Doorway -
The Healing Power of Authentic Communication, a teleseminar
we're doing this Thursday May 22.

Click here to check it out:

Communication, Communication, Communication!

In the 32 years they've been teaching and coaching about
relationships, there's one thing they have found over and over
again. And that is this - the quality of a relationship is
determined by and reflected in the way two people communicate.

Very often it's the things people can't talk about that often
ends up destroying their relationships.

Truth is scary. Truth hurts. What if the truth really did set
you free? What if your personal truth was the doorway to the
love you want, both to give and to receive?

It is absolutely essential to be able to talk about things that
are hard to talk about if you want your relationships to
succeed. The "hard stuff" isn't always negative, either.

For some people, talking about positive feelings of love and
affection is very difficult. Yet, relationships need positive
expressions of emotion just like flowers need water and
sunshine. Without them, they wither and die.

Good communication skills are foundational to successful
relationships.

Unfortunately, good communication doesn't come naturally to most
people, especially when there are powerful emotions involved.
The good news is that communication skills can be learned, and
you can learn them.

When you register for Truth Is Love's Doorway, you'll receive a
copy of their Special Report, How to Avoid Communication
Breakdowns That Make a Mess of Your Relationships.

A Few Important Questions

Now, let us ask you a few questions to help you determine if
this teleseminar is right for you:

** Do you avoid talking about things you know you should because
you're afraid it will hurt someone's feelings or cause an
upset?

** Do you ever feel like you're "walking on eggshells" in your
relationships?

** Do you get uncomfortable receiving "too much" attention?

** Do you ever feel like people just don't listen to you?

** Do you have trouble asking for what you want?

** Do you believe that the "truth hurts"?

** Do you (or someone you know) avoid intimacy?

** Do you have trouble finding the right words to voice your
feelings?

** Do you (or someone you know) use "the silent treatment"?

** Do you face difficult relationships and communication
situations at work?

Listen, if you answered "YES" to even one of these questions,
you're going to love this teleseminar!

Why? Because you'll learn some new, practical ideas and tools
that you'll be able to use right away that will make a positive
difference in your relationships.

You'll be getting started as soon as you register, download and
read their Special Report. In their interactive teleseminar they will
go into more detail and model exactly what to say and how to say
it in the real life, challenging situations presented by you
and other participants.
